Straight Rail

The most ordinary rail of all, and the baseline for every other dimension.
A Plarail layout is built up with the length of this one rail as its unit. The radius of the curves, the spacing of double track, the number of rails a slope needs to climb 1 tier — trace them back and they all come from this length.
When a loop won't close, start by counting how many of these rails would fill the gap. If it doesn't come out even, the basic approach is to swap in shorter pieces — a half, then a quarter.
