The basic way to turn. Join 8 of them the same way around and you get exactly one loop.
This "8 rails for 1 lap" is the foundation of Plarail. How many circles to combine, where to slip in a straight — the arithmetic of planning a layout mostly starts here.
Half of that, 4 rails, is 180° — a turnback. 2 rails make a 90° right angle. Keep this correspondence in mind and you can read a shape before laying it out on the floor.
